Farah cleared by UK Athletics
The Olympic champion has found himself under fierce media scrutiny over the past seven weeks, but on Thursday afternoon, UK Athletics announced that they had cleared Farah during their recent assessment.
A BBC Panorama documentary alleged that Salazar was involved in doping Farah’s training partner Galen Rupp.
UKA said it had not been presented with any evidence of misconduct by Farah, nor any material that aroused suspicion over Salazar’s conduct at the Nike Oregon Project.
Due to a formal investigation by the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) and UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) into the allegations, UKA states that the findings from the review will be shared with UKAD prior to any wider circulation.
American Salazar, who has worked as a consultant for British Athletics since 2013, has denied the allegations made against him.
The statement added: “The Board does not expect to be able to make a public announcement of the outcome of its POG findings until after the World Athletics Championships in Beijing”.
UK Athletics have found no “evidence of impropriety” on Mo Farah ‘s part in an investigation into his coach, Alberto Salazar, and the Oregon Proect.
“UK Athletics continues to take the issue of doping violations in sport extremely seriously and will assist UKAD and other relevant authorities in their important work whenever required”.
The Somali-born distance runner boosted hopes of a successful double World Championships title defence with a homecoming triumph in the 3,000m at last week’s Anniversary Games in London.
