Farewell Day for Michael Phelps at Rio Games
Ben Youssef Metie, 29, of the Ivory Coast, notched the morning’s second-faster time of 10.03, edging U.S. hopeful Trayvon Bromell’s 10.13, which was still fast enough to qualify.
At the velodrome, Britain’s Katie Archibald, Laura Trott, Elinor Barker and Joanna Rowsell-Shand smashed the women’s team pursuit world record for the second time in 48 hours to take gold, beating world champions US to defend their title.
“It wasn’t the best start, felt kind of sluggish”, Bolt said, frequently rubbing his newly close-cropped haircut.
Bolt holds the world and Olympic records in the 100-meter race – 9.58 and 9.63 seconds, respectively – but his mom has other priorities. But, it’s pretty important to remember what Bolt is actually chasing when he gets to the finals.
He started out in the sixth lane to contest Heat 7, the second to last, stumbled his first few steps but it only took him a few more to take the lead and zoom to a 10.07 win.
“Hopefully tomorrow when I come out I’ll be feeling much better”.

Bolt had the session’s fourth-fastest mark at 10.07, with Canada’s Andre de Grasse, the 2015 NCAA 100 and 200 champion for USC, running 10.03.

“It’ s like a soccer crowd in here”, Gatlin said.
Gatlin said he doesn’t like being portrayed as the bad guy because of his past. “I wasn’t even a dark horse in the field”. The 29-year-old was not happy, though, suggesting he was “kinda sluggish” because of the early time on the race, just after midday in Rio.
“Now I got the jitters out of the way, I’m ready to keep moving forward”, Bromell told NBC. Coming into ’16, I’m older, I’m wiser, I just feel good. “I’m at the end of my season, I’m at the end of my career and I’m like, just have fun with it”. Lilly King, the American swimmer who has been outspoken about drug cheats, went so far as to recently say Gatlin should not have been allowed into these Olympics.
“I know he’ll settle down because he has said it”.
In addition to track and field, action continues all over Rio in boxing, cycling, swimming and more.
“You talk about world records and all that sort of stuff but frankly I’m not anxious about that right now”. I have confidence in my policies.
“India is phenomenally proud of all our athletes in Rio and their hard work that got them there. I hope everybody else does”. I’m back here. I believe in the system.
