NEW DELHI (TIP): n the first major political repercussion from the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) debacle in the Bihar assembly election, a quartet of veteran party stalwarts came out openly against the BJP leadership on Tuesday, calling for a “thorough review” of the influence being wielded by what they called “a handful”.
The Bihar Chief Minister had strongly supported the AAP government in its confrontations with the Centre on a range of issues. The mega “anti-NDA” function will be attended by a galaxy of non-NDA leaders, such as Congress vice- president Rahul Gandhi, former PM H D Deve Gowda, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, her Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal and CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury. It comes as a jolt to the grand alliance which was floated to counter the BJP in the state. This time people rejected BJP and voted for Nitish.
Without naming anyone, they said, “This review must not be done by the very persons who have managed and who have been responsible for the campaign in Bihar”.
The campaign leaders of the BJP could not understand the undercurrents prevailing against the party, he said.
This has sent the message across to voters that the BJP does not have a face in Bihar. He will be judged from now on only as the Prime Minister of India.
