Farooq for resumption of Indo-Pak talks
In a breakthrough in Indo-Pak relations, National Security Advisers of both countries on Sunday met in Bangkok and discussed various issues including terrorism, law and order, Kashmir occupation and situation on Line of Control (LoC), Dunya News reported. While India has insisted, in keeping with what was decided in Ufa, that first the NSAs meet to discuss terrorism, Islamabad has maintained that foreign secretaries too meet nearly simultaneously to discuss other outstanding issues, most notably the “core issue” of Kashmir.
Sources said the decision to resume the talks was taken when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif in Paris recently.
“They were guided by the vision of the two leaders for a peaceful, stable and prosperous South Asia”, the statement said.
The discussions were held in candid, cordial and constructive atmosphere, read the statement.
“We hope Ms. Swaraj’s visit will improve relations and help to carry forward the dialogue process…”
“If that side of Kashmir will remain with Pakistan and this side with India and maximum possible autonomy is given on both sides, then borders will get irrelevant and a new dawn of peace and progress can become a reality”, he added.
Pakistan and that both nuclear-powers should realize the importance of amicably resolving the Kashmir Issue without any further delay. “The two leaders parted with a warm handshake”, a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s House said.
