Fast & Furious 9 and 10 release dates confirmed
Vin Diesel has revealed in an Instagram post the “Fast and Furious” franchise will be 10 films long.
Diesel had revealed on January 18 that eighth film would be titled “Fast 8” and released the first poster for the action movie, showing the New York City skyline.
The studio has penciled in April 19, 2019 for the ninth sequel, and April 2, 2021 for the tenth and, for the moment, final film in the series.
While that’s all well and good, let’s take a moment to consider the fact a simple film ’bout cars and crims has spun out into a franchise that really will span two decades.
After opening in cinemas earlier this year, Fast & Furious 7 became the franchise’s most successful outing yet, grossing over $1.516 billion (£1.05 billion) at the global box office.
“Straight Outta Compton’s” F. Gary Gary will direct “Fast 8”, which will see the return of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Jason Statham along with the full cast.
Vin said “We have a director who is going to bring the darkness out and bring out the character”.
The release date for Fast 8 – 14 April 2017 – was announced some time ago, and filming is due to begin this June.
