Fazal-ur-Rehman requests Altaf Hussain to end deadlock over resignation issue
The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has asked the federal government to accept its members’ resignations from the legislators as it is not willing to further carrying out the dialogue process with the government.
MQM chief Altaf Hussain and JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman spoke via telephone on Saturday.
The MQM leader said that his party made this decision in principle after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s visit to the megapolis.
Confirming that the JUI-F chief had reached out to the party, MQM leader Mustafa Azizabadi said Fazl had request Altaf to review party’s decision to abandon talks.
Instead of focusing on a return to parliament, the party said they had unanimously decided to divert their energies towards their social welfare work under the Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation and for creating a new province.
According to an MQM press release issued late on Friday night, the coordination committee of the party criticised the prime minister’s attitude during his Karachi visit the previous day, noting that he did not have even a word of appreciation for the effort put in by the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-F chief.
On August 12, the MQM lawmakers had tendered their resignations from the National Assembly, Senate and the Sindh Assembly due to reservations over the Rangers-led operation in Karachi.
To a question, Rizvi said that the police and law-enforcement agencies are providing security to the MQM leader Rashid Godil.
