FedEx orders 50 767 Freighters with 50 options
Boeing, however, has forecast that global air freight traffic will still grow at an annual rate of 4.7 per cent, doubling cargo traffic over the next 20 years.
FedEx announced Tuesday it has agreed to purchase 50 Boeing 767-300F freighter aircraft, with additional options to purchase 50 more of the jets.
The deal includes options for another 50 767Fs, and is the biggest order for the Boeing plane to date.

FedEx said the aircraft will be delivered over the fiscal years 2018-2023.
“I will only say, the terms are very favorable”, said FedEx spokesman Jess Bunn.
“Acquiring additional 767F aircraft…will enable us to reduce structural costs, improve our fuel efficiency and enhance the reliability of our global network”, David J.
FedEx has a total fleet of 378 planes, of which 88 are Airbus A300s and A310s and most of the rest are Boeing jets. 767 freighters with a list value of about $10 billion, the model’s largest-ever order, as it upgrades the fleet at the FedEx Express unit.
The 767 assembly line was once at risk of closing, but Boeing successfully won a contract to sell 767 based tankers to the U.S. Air Force, and continues to offer civilian versions of the 767.
