Feel the Bern? Sanders holding out on NH debate
Donald Trump’s presidential campaign manager Corey Lewandowski is accusing FOX News anchorwoman Megyn Kelly of being “completely obsessed” with his candidate, and says most people tuned in to the first FOX News Republican debate because Trump was on stage.
Their strategies reflect a nostalgic Democratic base that is split along demographic lines. “I think it’s good for Hillary because I think her support is clearly spread out throughout the state and they have been working on it for a longer amount of time”. Sanders has regularly attended group meetings at the White House with other Democractic lawmakers as well as social events.
“She can govern and she can start here, Day 1, more experienced than any non-vice-president has ever been who aspires to this office”, Obama said, clearly tilting toward his former secretary of state but avoiding a full-fledged endorsement.
Clinton has 47% support compared to Sanders’ 42%, according to a Monmouth University survey released Thursday. Rubio said the ad blitz was a sign Cruz, after months of cruising to the top of the heap, was starting to sweat.
Touching on the race in Iowa, Sanders said the outcome would depend on turnout. He is the 2008 Obama.
He went on to say he would follow Obama’s model of avoiding and ending wars.
ANDREA MITCHELL: If Bernie Sanders – and it’s neck and neck – if those kids turn out, if he wins Iowa, and he’s going to win New Hampshire, most likely – you know, unpredictable, but he’s way ahead – then does her firewall hold in the south?

Clinton has wrapped herself in Obama’s governing style, praising his approach to health care, gun control and college affordability and vowing to both protect and build on his accomplishments. But I enjoyed the meeting and I thought it was a very positive and constructive meeting. She also said she’s sticking with Sanders. “I think that’s one of the reasons he’s a nervous wreck, too”, Trump said at a rally in Nashua, New Hampshire, where the real estate magnate was already looking past Iowa.
“Don’t just focus on one thing in this campaign”, Clinton said.
But Clinton did try to convince the crowd to engage seriously in the campaign – to look beyond the “entertaining” spectacle of the race and “commit”.
Sanders added that he was grateful that Obama campaigned for him years ago and vice versa, but that didn’t mean they didn’t also have their differences.
Sanders: “It was just a discussion to just get myself updated on some of the current issues facing us in this country”.
The two chose to meet when they saw each other at a White House party before the holidays. The Vermont senator’s campaign has said it wouldn’t want to jeopardize its participation in two debates planned for after the New Hampshire primary in Wisconsin and Florida.
“That ability to engage Democrats and excite them and inspire them will be critical to the success of Democrats up and down the ballot, whether Senator Sanders is the nominee or not”, Earnest said.
Both Sanders’ campaign and the White House said Wednesday’s sit-down has been scheduled for some time.
“I think the public is reacting to uncertainty that people feel in terms of the economy, in terms of American strength overseas, in terms of just overall uncertainty in the political environment”, she said.
