Feng Shui Masters Say Baby Panda Birth A Positive Future For Country
“Since then, our veterinary experts had begun carrying out blood test and measuring its weight, before they finally decided that there was an 80 per cent probability that Liang Liang was pregnant”, he told Bernama here today.
The first panda born on Malaysian soil could not have picked a better date of birth.
“Right now, Malaysia is the fastest nation to successfully breed a giant panda cub in captivity via natural process”, he said.
Zoo Negara deputy president Rahmat Ahmat Lana said this would only be possible, once Liang Liang is able to leave the cub alone.
The gender of the cub has yet to be ascertained as the mother had kept it in a hidden corner, officials said.
Zoo Negara will display the newborn panda cub in a special nursery section at the panda conservatory complex in about two months’ time.
Aside the two masters” majestic welcome, excited netizens have also suggested for the cub to be named “Merdeka’ in conjunction with the month it was born in.
Meanwhile, Malaysian Zoological Society Zoology and Veterinary director Dr Mat Naim Ramli said the cub is most likely female.
Liang Liang, together with a male giant panda Xing Xing, arrived in Malaysia last year on a 10- year loan for the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia.
Koh said the panda cub would bring change to the country.
The two countries agreed in 2012 that China would send a pair of giant pandas for a 10-year stay as part of Beijing’s “panda diplomacy”.
