Feud prompts controversial yard sign
A Texas neighbor feud that started over barking dogs has escalated into quite the community controversy. The Prices just want to live at peace with the neighbor who they say is making them uncomfortable. “He knew we had dogs when he moved in”.
According to Chron.com, James and Lisa Price put the sign up in their yard on August. 7 after months of tension between them and their nextdoor neighbors.
The home backs up to a golf course, and the Prices have placed a sign in the backyard, too. Golfers can often be seen taking a break between swings to take photos, turning the house into a something of a tourist attraction.
The dogs, she said, have been driving her neighbor insane, but his complaints to the city have also stirred the pot.
The Prices say they tried to accommodate him.
“All of a sudden we got the ticket in the mail”.
Lisa Price said five police officers and a city councilman have visited their home since Sunday, asking them to remove the signs, which refers to a feminine hygiene product. “It’s not what I’d put out there, but it’s made its point”, she said.
Then the Prices received a $121 ticket from the city for “barking dogs”. The Prices admit to letting their dogs bark all day.
“We don’t know what else to do”.
‘We’ve obviously been pushed pretty far to go to this extreme, ‘ Mrs Price said. We thought if we did that, he’d catch on and leave us alone.
“All our neighbor has to do is come over and talk to us and take the cameras down and be a nice neighbor”, Price told KDFW-TV.
Price said she really doesn’t want to sell her home, adding the sign was really just meant to get her neighbor to “back off”. “I’m sorry if it’s offensive to someone, but we didn’t put a curse word on it”.
As for the sign, its vulgar language is not against the city’s ordinances and is allowed on the Price’s property.
