College Football Playoff predictions reveal some bad news for Penn State and MI. Washington won the Pac-12 Championship, while Penn State won the Big Ten Championship but lost to MI by 39 points.

As expected, both Washington and Clemson are in the playoff thanks to wins in their conference championship games this weekend.

Now things get interesting.

As of last week the 12-person committee had no doubt Ohio State belonged in the top four. But as far as a top 4 spot in the Playoff it’s to far out of reach for you.

Ohio State’s Urban Meyer said he empathizes with Penn State and would not mind seeing a system that rewards all conference champions.

That leaves two spots in some manner of doubt.

The Big 12 doesn’t have a championship game, but the victor of the Bedlam rivalry will be the conference’s champion. Ohio State did not play this week, while the team it lost to, Penn State, earned another top-10 win and a Big Ten championship.

So if three spots are already taken, Oklahoma State’s chances, and the chances of the Big 12 in general, fall on the ACC. Clemson could lose the ACC championship to Virginia Tech.

Committee chairman Kirby Hocutt said after the next-to-last rankings were announced Tuesday night, “Our mission and sole objective is to rank the four very best teams in college football for inclusion in the playoff”. And if Washington’s able to stay within 14 points, it’ll be one of just three teams to have done that against the Tide. In all honesty, only seven – maybe an eight, but we’ll get to that – schools have a real shot at the Playoff, and four of those are in the Big Ten.
