Fight Breaks Out at Trump Rally Between Supporters and Protesters
After more than 10 minutes shouting “Dump Trump” – as Trump pressed on with his speech – the protesters were escorted out by a combination of Trump campaign staff and event staff, as well as several police officers.
A presidential campaign rally for Republican frontrunner Donald Trump gave way to pushing and shoving Wednesday as the billionaire’s supporters clashed with a group of Latino student protesters. An African-American woman shouted, “Black power” as she was forced out of the rally.
But several of his supporters quickly became agitated, shouting “Go back to Mexico” as a few of the protesters were escorted out.
Trump was talking about immigration before thousands at the Richmond worldwide Speedway when the physical altercation broke out, forcing him to pause his speech and address what was going on out in the crowd. Trump supporters quickly began cheering to drown out the protesters.
After that dust-up, Trump continued his verbal jaunt through recent poll numbers (he’s on top in all of them), attacking GOP opponents he deemed foolish enough to confront him (Perry, Pataki, Paul), and a small percentage of media members he called “horrible human beings”.
CNN politics reporter Sara Murray reported that before the protesters could be removed, things got tense between Trump’s supporters and roughly a dozen protesters.
“We have thousands of people in this room… And they’re giving them to illegal immigrants”.
Trump’s labeled his latest foil, Independent Democrat Bernie Sanders a “socialist-slash-communist”, and mocked Tuesday night’s democratic debate, saying he could only watch it because he had committed to live-tweeting along with it.
“Because that’s what he is”, Trump said, to applause.
