Fighting between Afghan, Pakistani forces on border kills one

ISLAMABAD, July 3 (APP): Finance Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar has inaugurated a branch of MCB Bank in Dubai heralding its first wholesale banking operations in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He said that meeting between the two leaders at worldwide conferences is a usual matter, however, there had been no contact between India and Pakistan regarding a meeting in Russian Federation.

Meanwhile, Pakistani officials Wednesday said they had killed a senior Al Qaeda commander and three other militants in a raid earlier this week in eastern Punjab province.

Pakistan summoned Afghanistan’s ambassador last evening and also expressed “serious concern” to the envoy on the unprovoked firing by the Afghan Border Police at Angoor Adda gate on Pakistani side, which resulted in injuries to two security personnel. “Pakistani troops responded and targeted the positions from where fire was coming”, he said.

“It is being constructed well within the Pakistani territory”, Khalilullah noted.

He said Pakistan’s cooperation with Afghanistan is continuing as it is in the interest of the peoples of the two countries.

Afghan deputy foreign minister Hekmat Khalil Karzai told Ambassador Hussain that the violation by Pakistan was against global and diplomatic norms.

He said being 70th anniversary of the United Nations this year, the September session will be very important. To another question, he said that visit of the Afghan interior minister was postponed because of the security situation in Afghanistan.

Qazi said Pakistan condemns terrorism in all its forms.

Sources said that tensions were rising across the border after the Taliban have geared up their attacks in Afghanistan, adding that the afghan government was blaming Pakistan for the destabilization in their country.
