Filipe Luis leaves Chelsea
Elsewhere, Chelsea full-back Filipe Luis has rejoined Atletico Madrid, one year after his move to Stamford Bridge.
Filipe Luis has bid farewell to Chelsea’s staff and fans with an emotional video, after completing his long-rumoured return to Atletico Madrid.
Luis was initially signed by Jose Mourinho for around £16m last summer, but the player failed to settle in London and was unable to oust first choice left back Cesar Azpilicueta from the team.
At the same, I would like to thank Atlético de Madrid, who put in a lot of effort to bring me back to the club.
The defensive superstar has signed a four year contract with Diego Simeone’s side and will look to once again earn a regular spot in his starting eleven.
The club are still determined to sign the England global defender John Stones from Everton and will return with another bid for him.
British media reported that Atletico paid about 15 million euros to buy him back. In all competitions, the South American made 26 appearances last season.
Luis, 29, helped Chelsea to their first Premier League title in five years and also won the Capital One Cup with the Blues in what is set to be his only campaign at the club.
Filipe Luis was born in Brazil and started his career with Figueirense in 2003.
Caminero said: “We all know Filipe Luis“. We strengthen ourselves with one of the most talented wingers in the world.
