Filming argument scenes with Brad was very heavy: Jolie
Was Angelina Jolie affected by the rumors that Brad Pitt wasn’t the one who first cheated on Jennifer Aniston?
In their new film, Jolie and her husband of almost a year are playing against type – as unhappy spouses on vacation in France. However, By The Sea offered her the extra challenge of directing her husband, as she described to People.
Jolie said filming the drama’s intense argument scene was “heavy” as there was aggression. They play a married couple in the mid-1970s traveling through France who are forced to re-examine their relationship after an encounter with a younger couple (Mélanie Laurent and Melvil Poupaud) in a seaside town. Photos of the film have been released over the past year, but this is the first trailer we’ve seen of the highly-anticipated Brangelina reunion.
The “Wanted” actress joked that the argument scene resembled parents fight at home.
This marks the second big screen collaboration between Jolie and Pitt, following the 2005 marital action comedy “Mr. and Mrs. Smith”. “I think By the Seawas the hardest film for me because it wasn’t [issue-driven]”. About everyone agreed the film was lame but no one cared because they were only watching it for voyeuristic purposes, a front-row viewing of them falling in love (Or, for the #TeamAniston brigade, to bolster their arsenal).
“We’re proud of ourselves for being courageous enough to try it”, she told DGA. This time Jolie is not just Pitt’s co-star but also his director. “I understand and appreciate his creative process and his work ethic even more than before”, Angelina added about Brad’s process. They now have six children together. “It’s probably not an accident that the films that I care about happen to be about issues that matter to me, stories that I want to tell”.
The end result of this challenging and dramatic family project will start its release on November 13.
