Final Fantasy 7 Remake Will “Go Beyond Scale, Gameplay, Story” of Original
Do you think Square Enix’s decision to put “Final Fantasy VII Remake” on a multi-part series will deliver a better game?
First of all, fans are now assured that there will be a “Final Fantasy VII Remake” coming soon. Kitase explained in his letter that their goal with Final Fantasy 7 Remake is to “go beyond” the original in terms of the “story, world and experience”. In a series of piecemeal interviews and blog posts over the following days, Square clarified that each game in this series would be a “full-sized game”-which presumably means they’ll each be $60-and that, combined, they’ll tell an expanded version of Final Fantasy VII’s original story”.
Given also that a release date is still undetermined for the time being, this gives breathing room for more gaming possibilities in the near future, to perhaps go alongside the awaited Final Fantasy VII remake title.
One thing that we wanted to be clear about during this weekend to accompany the new trailer was the scale of this project.
Square Enix has been building towards Final Fantasy VII Remake for a long time now, and Producer Yoshinori Kitase has always said that any do-over of the groundbreaking RPG would require a significant amount of time and effort. “As I said before, we like delivering surprises”.
Recently, it was announced that the remake of the game would come in multiple parts. They also added, “Just like when we revealed the announcement trailer at E3 earlier this year, we like surprising you”. Producing a proper HD remake of FINAL FANTASY VII that maintains the same feeling of density of the original would result in a volume of content that couldn’t possibly fit into one instalment.
He concluded that Final Fantasy 7 Remake is releasing in multiple parts or else they would have had to cut content if it were just in one part.
He continued: “Going beyond the scale and depth of the world, narrative and gameplay from the original to deliver something that feels familiar yet new”.
See you all soon and Happy Holidays! Breaking apart an adventure and story that was never designed for such treatment sounds like a bad idea to me.
