Final US Airways flight begins journey from Philadelphia
The final US Airways flight has begun its roundtrip journey between Philadelphia and San Francisco.
The flight left Philadelphia global Airport at 10:36 a.m. Friday – 31 minutes late.
At Phoenix, one of US Airways’ hubs, there was a small glitch with airport monitors not displaying gate information, but that was due to an airport issue and not related to American’s computer system cutover.
That’s why they’re reducing the number of flights today by 200, and they’ve increased staffing.
Capt. Doug Rice will be in the cockpit for the final flight.
“We’re joining the world’s largest airlines and it’s gonna be wonderful for passengers, employees and the future of the company”, Rice said.
The Airbus A321 landed at Philadelphia global Airport at 5:54 a.m. Saturday after departing from San Francisco at 1:07 a.m.as a red-eye flight.
You’ll no see US Airways when you head to the airport, even if that’s where you booked your flight.
FROSCH Travel Agent Christina Turrini said merging reservation systems can create turbulence.
There were no major hiccups in the computer systems merger of American Airlines and US Airways.
