Final US Airways flight, lands in Philly; included NC stop
The last US Airways flight took off Saturday morning from San Francisco to Philadelphia in the final leg of its roundtrip journey.
US Airways was formed in Pittsburgh as All American Aviation. The US Airways website immediately redirected visitors to the AA.com website.
The plane is Flight 1939, named for the airline’s founding year.
That’s why they’re reducing the number of flights today by 200, and they’ve increased staffing.
Yakel and Feinstein said a lot of people wanted to be on board for the sold out historic flight.
Capt. Doug Rice will be in the cockpit for the final flight.
Logan operator Massport said it has been working with American to ensure a smooth transition and doesn’t expect problems.
The airlines, which merged in December 2013, combined their two passenger service systems overnight with what appeared to be no significant issues.
You’ll no see US Airways when you head to the airport, even if that’s where you booked your flight.
“United and Continental was a disaster for everyone”, Turrini said.
