FIR against AAP MLA for abusing women at office
Downplaying the allegations being levelled against him, the Sangam Vihar MLA told ANI that the woman complainant never visited his office. He further said there is no video or photographic proof to back this allegation. In response, Mohaniya allegedly began hurling abuses at them, and his supporters pushed them out of his office.
Leader of Opposition and party MLA Vijender Gupta, on whose complaint the ACB registered the FIR, claimed the “scam” was going on as the monthly payments to the contractors were being made and the government has not taken any action against any official or the “guilty” contractors.
A case has been registered against AAP legislator from Sangam Vihar, Dinesh Mohaniya, after few local residents complained he had misbehaved with them when they went to report irregular water supply problem in the area, police said on Thursday.
The Sangam Vihar MLA has been booked on charges of causing hurt, criminal intimidation and using word, gesture or act meant to insult the modesty of a woman, police said.
The case has been registered at the Neb Sarai Police station under the section 506 for criminal intimidation, section 509 for word, gesture or act meant to insult the modesty of a woman and section 323 punishments for voluntarily causing hurt of the Indian Penal Code. Repeated attempts by The Hindu to reach Mr. Mohaniya for his side of the story failed.
Police sources said that the MLA was likely to be arrested in connection with the case. The workers at his office came and started misbehaving with me.
A FIR has been lodged against MLA. “We’re facing severe water problem here?” “We went there only to ask for water and not for money”, she added.
The incident took place last evening.
