Fire breaks out at Make in India event in Mumbai

A major fire break out today during a Make in India programme in Mumbai.
Nitin Desai, who designed the stage believed that the short circuit perhaps caused the fire. As per news sources, it was during a lavani performance that had almost 80 members dancing on the folk tunes that the stage caught fire. Right after megastar Amitabh Bachchan had finished reciting poems written by lyricist Prasoon Joshi.
“I’m okay, but it’s very unfortunate”, he said. Then my staff told me that there is a fire. I was backstage when this happened.
In the first tweet, veteran actor confirmed that he is safe and wrote about his escape from the accident. – Amitabh Bachchan wrote on his blog after the fire incident.
“The event was underway when fire broke out, we ran to save our lives”.
The organiser of the event – Wizcraft International Entertainment Pvt Ltd – has said in a statement that prior to the event, all safety checks and audits were done. Number of fire fighting equipments were kept stationed at venue. I am fortunate to be alright.
“The fire was uncontrollable, luckily people have been evacuated”. Thankfully, there were no injuries.
Eyewitnesses said the evacuation was orderly. There is not caulities and all thanks to the Mumbai police, the organizers and the fire extinguisher department.

NCP leader Sachin Ahir alleged that the “shoddy planning and organisation (of event) led to the tragedy”. Rapid action was taken to safely evacuate the huge mass in order. The music was stopped soon after the fire was noticed and the crowd began screaming to alert them to run towards the back. Initially, we thought that it was part of the performance or that some celebrity must be coming on stage. “Excellent disaster management”, Aamir posted on Facebook. Another Hindi film actor Aamir Khan was to perform. Suddenly the fire broke out. It was due to wind that the blaze engulfed the stage.
