Evacuations have been lifted and roads have reopened.
The fire started around 10 p.m. Saturday.
Driven by increasing wind, the fire burned more than 320 acres south of town near Lagoon Valley Park.
Illegal fireworks were believed to have ignited fires that threatened homes and destroyed property in several locations, as well as caused an explosion at a block party that sent at least five people to the hospital, authorities across California said Sunday as they assessed damages and injuries from the July Fourth celebration.
One blaze burned 25 acres after it was likely sparked by lightning near Somerset. However, winds at 30 miles per hour gusting to more than 40 miles per hour caused the fire to spread quickly, as flying embers caused other fires to break out. Neighborhood areas closed included Skyview Place, Ariquipa, El Matador Mobile Home Park, Hidden Oaks, Terrace Court, Los Robles, Black Oak Court, Red Oak Court, Atherton Court, Selby Court, and Menlo Court.
Residents in Vacaville are back in their homes this morning after a grass fire forced evacuations and street closures late last night. Streets along California Drive were also closed.
There’s no word on what caused the blaze.
Mazzaferro says the fire could have been started by fireworks.
The fire was 50 percent contained shortly at 5:30 a.m., according to the department.
In the meantime, city officials expressed gratitude to the firefighters and community.
