Firefighter Shot In Leg On Staten Island

A New York City firefighter was shot in the leg Friday morning at a Staten Island home where authorities were trying to execute an arrest warrant, police said.

Firefighters responded to the blaze at 5:58 a.m.at 15 Destiny Court, just around the corner from St. Clement and St. Michael R.C. Church.

Police said U.S. Marshals were attempting to serve a warrant on the man when he set a fire and started shooting. One was shot twice in the lower left leg and the injuries were not life-threatening, sources said.

Police say the suspected shooter is still inside the building.

The police department’s technical assistance response unit is on scene.
