Firefighters rescue man stuck in washing machine!
‘This job was interesting as the crew had not performed a washing machine rescue before…’ NSW Fire and Rescue posted to their Facebook page on Monday.
Perhaps the question is not how he got into the washing machine – instead ask: why?
The Bankstown Fire and Rescue service were able to free the man, who became lodged on 26 July, by carefully working to take the machine apart.
A Sydney man seems to have taken the tactic to new heights by becoming trapped in a washing machine for hours until a rescue crew arrived to free him.
“The washing machine had to be disassembled systematically and stabilisation was placed under the the washing drum as the outer mounts of the washing machine were removed”.
The 22-year-old from Sydney was trapped up to his waist for at least three hours.
Mr Cross has been in the job for more than 35 years and while he has attended to children stuck in vending machines, stubborn rings on fingers and digits stuck in plug holes, this rescue was one of the most weird he has seen.
Rescuers say the man stayed pretty calm throughout the ordeal considering he was in a lot of discomfort, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.
The man’s parents called paramedics after discovering their son in the awkward and painful situation.
The machine’s stainless steel drum was next cut away to slowly allow the man to be released.
