Firefox 40 Adds Windows 10 Support
“We are doing everything we can to upgrade the world to Windows 10 as quickly as possible over the coming days and weeks ahead”.
If you’re running Windows RT, your device won’t upgrade to Windows 10.
ZDNet’s Mary Jo Foley heard from one of her contacts that Microsoft is planning to dole out more cumulative updates in the future, possibly every week for the first month of Windows 10 availability. The new OS also enables files to be in sync with other devices and in OneDrive.
The company isn’t taking it laying down and has launched Firefox for Windows 10.
Microsoft released its latest Windows 10 update with build KB3081424 that went live for download about 15 hours ago. Users would insert the chip, download the app and then not be able to access the application once the system was rebooted. Many users reported the update was causing their machines to restart over and over again.
However, other bits of information sent to and requested from Microsoft, including those associated with the company’s cloud storage service, OneDrive, and to an unknown content delivery network, have a user identification number attached.
Microsoft has yet to release an update to fix the crash-loop problem.
Windows 10 users will notice bigger and bolder design elements and there will be more space for viewing the Web. This means search results will be shown in Firefox rather than defaulting over to Bing.
That last statement is perhaps an admission of how much work Microsoft still has to do with the release, as numerous changes appear to be bug fixes to address problems such as the touch screen becoming unresponsive after ending a phone call and apps installed on flash SD Cards not working after a reboot. Check Windows Update on your Windows RT device to make sure it is ready to download the update when available.
So basically, yes, some data is indeed collected from your computer, but you need to give your approval before anything happens.
