Firefox Version 40 Adds Windows 10 Support, Improves Security
Firefox 40.0 began rolling out today, but previous versions will also continue to work just fine with Windows 10.
Firefox for Android has also been updated, and note that the mobile interface has been tweaked so a long press on either the backward or forward buttons in the app menu brings up the history list.
A new feature in Windows 10 provides additional updating capability where computers sitting on the same network can share the task of downloading and providing updates for everyone.
Now with a more streamlined feel, the browser boasts bigger, bolder design elements, and more space for viewing websites.
Microsoft has previously said that it won’t release a full version of Windows 10 for Windows RT devices, and this latest announcement doesn’t change that.

For comparison, Microsoft sold 40 million licenses for Windows 8, its last major operating system, in the first month of availability in 2012. With the new Firefox set as the default browser, web searches from the search box will show results from the default search engine specified in Firefox.
Windows 10 has enjoyed a strong reception so far, but it’s attracted criticism for the way it automatically changes your default programs to Microsoft ones even if it keeps all your other programs. The firm announced a process to officially certify add-ons from third party providers, ensuring they follow the guidelines suggested by Firefox developers.
New developments in Google’s Safe Browsing service now allow Firefox 40 to issue a warning if you’re about to navigate to a website known to contain malicious or deceptive software.
