FIRST LISTEN: Sia Releases ‘Alive’ Single from Upcoming New Album
In addition, the “Rolling in the Deep” singer will be releasing one single from her new album a week or two before the album hits stores, reports Entertainment Tonight. The song, originally intended for Adele’s new album 25, now is perfectly placed in Sia’s discography.
Alive was initially written for Adele’s upcoming third studio album, and was co-written by the pair alongside Tobias Jesso Jr.
However, Adele didn’t want the song, which led Sia to repurpose the track.
Sia may still be shielding her face with those elaborate wigs and costumes, but she’s very much “Alive”. The pain pours forth from Sia’s cracking, flaking voice on Alive, allowing her to examine her own placement amidst the ever-changing pop landscape and unleash one of her mightiest performances ever.
“It’s about [Adele’s] life, so I now sing a song from [Adele’s] perspective”, she said. Hits Daily Double claims the album is “slated for 11/20”, with a single dropping the first or second week of November.
As Sia explains it, she wrote the majority of the album’s songs for other artists.
Blur frontman Damon Albarn’s already admitted working on new material with Adele, but says he doesn’t think she’ll use it.
Sia said she felt “seller’s remorse”, because she was too attached to the song. Until official news surfaces for that date, hear “Alive” above.
In 2011, Adele’s “21” album sold 11.1 million copies in the United States and more than 30 million albums worldwide.
