First Look! Renee Zellweger in the New ‘Bridget Jones’s Diary’ Film
The first look of Renee Zellweger in the new Bridget Jones film Bridget Jones’s Baby has been released. Hugh Grant, 55, who played Bridget’s other love interest, is not returning for the third film.
Aside from 46-year-old Zellweger, 55-year-old Colin Firth is set to reprise his dashing role as Bridget’s husband, Mark Darcy.
No plot details have been confirmed, but the title obviously references Bridget Jones having a child, although the identity of that child’s father remains to be seen. It’s reportedly based on columns written by Bridget Jones creator Helen Fielding and not adapted from her latest novel, “Mad About The Boy”, in which Firth’s character died. The book follows Bridget as she has a couple of kids, while Mark Darcy has passed away.
What we do know is that Hugh Grant, who played Daniel Cleaver in previous films – will not be involved this time around. He said, “I decided not to do it. I think they’re going to go ahead and do it without Daniel”.
Patrick Dempsey has signed on in his place, though there’s no word as to what his part in the film will be yet.
Zellweger made headlines last October, when she made an appearance at ELLE’s 21st Annual Women In Hollywood Celebration looking nearly completely unrecognizable.
