First picture of Jason Pierre-Paul’s hand without a bandage surfaces
Jason Pierre-Paul has kept out of the public eye since he lost his right index finger in a July 4 fireworks accident, but his injured hand has been spotted for the first time. Based on the picture, the New York Giants star is missing his index finger, a part of his thumb and his middle finger is wrapped in a bandage. They aren’t particularly pretty, as you might imagine.
But the Daily News’ snaps now give the clearest look at how hurt the Giants defensive end is.
New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul’s injury has finally been revealed. He also suffered a fractured thumb and needed skin grafts.
The Giants placed the franchise tag on Pierre-Paul in March, but NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport reported on September 7 the two sides are “likely to rework” the contract before anything is signed.
While Pierre-Paul confidently talks about a return this season, the Giants aren’t so sure. JPP took to social media to plead his case a bit, saying his fingers were not the main component of him getting sacks.
The Giants haven’t rescinded their offer to Pierre-Paul, who loses $871,000 for each week that goes by where he isn’t signed.
Per multiple reports, the Giants won’t examine the injury again for another five or six weeks, and if the injuries aren’t sufficiently healed by then the team could rescind the tender.
