First Trailer for Natalie Portman’s ‘Jane Got a Gun’
She goes to a shotgun, apparently, in the first trailer for Portman’s western action-drama, “Jane Got a Gun” (No relation to the Aerosmith song “Janie’s Got a Gun”, although the coincidence is quite staggering).
In the film, Portman stars as the titular Jane, whose husband (Noah Emmerich) comes home almost dead. Dan will be played by Joel Edgerton. Then Bradley Cooper was brought in to take over Law’s role as the villain, but he left too leaving the spot open for McGregor to come in.
Jane Got a Gun centres around Jane Hammond, played by Natalie Portman, who after being tormented by violent outlaw gang the Bishop Boys, builds a new life with her husband Bill “Ham” Hammond, played by Noah Emmerich.
The teaser for the film reads, “Jane’s past meets the present in a heart-stopping battle for survival”.
The movie was originally scheduled for August 2014 release, however the official distributor Relativity Media filed for bankruptcy last July that made the company lose their distribution rights.
Though the film wrapped in 2013, it’s only coming out in limited release in November 2015, with a U.S. opening scheduled for early 2016.
Gavin O’Connor stepped up to direct the film, and Rodrigo Santoro, Boyd Holbrook and Alex Mantle are also part of the cast.
Granted, its just a trailer, but even with all of the turmoil behind the scenes during production and distribution, this actually looks like Jane Got a Gun could turn out to be a solid grim, gritty western.
