First Trailer For Richard Linklater’s ‘Dazed and Confused’ Spiritual
We’ve spent all year waiting for a taste of Everybody Wants Some, Richard Linklater’s “spiritual sequel” to his 1993 hit Dazed & Confused.
The new trailer for Linklater’s upcoming comedy Everybody Wants Some follows a group of college baseball players as they learn to cope with impending adulthood. This time he’s moving to college, but it seems he’s going for a similar mix of humour, nostalgia and serious points that marked his earlier movie.
As far as I can tell, such immortal characters as Matthew McConaughey’s Wooderson aren’t coming back (though it’d be a lot cooler if he did), and instead Everybody Wants Some follows a new set of characters, played by mostly unknowns. The title for the film has been taken from Women and Children First, Van Halen’s 1980 album. Featuring in the cast are Blake Jenner, Ryan Guzman, Tyler Hoechlin, Wyatt Russell, Glen Powell, Will Brittain and Zoey Deutch. There’s little doubt that Everybody Wants Some will be another victor in the director’s continuing streak of triumphs, but its hard to discern too much of its feel from the trailer alone.
