‘Fit Again’ Sturridge Could Play Against City

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has not ruled out Daniel Sturridge for Saturday’s trip to Manchester City – but he insists the striker has to put in more hours on the training ground to prove his long-term fitness. You do have to go back to October 2008 to see the last time Liverpool actually came from 2-0 down to grab the 3-2 win.

But his return has been tempered by the fact City will be without Vincent Kompany, Samir Nasri and David Silva for the visit of the Reds.

“To be honest with you, I don’t like it when a new manager comes to a club because all the players want to impress him”, the Ivorian told the club’s website.

City’s star players have contributed to Sterling’s impact and he looks like a match destined to do well for the Citizens.

Everton have been without experienced left-back Baines all season but the 30-year-old finally seems set to return to action from a long-standing ankle problem, which he aggravated ahead of the 2015/16 campaign.

Aguero, last season’s top Premier League goalscorer, has missed the club’s last seven matches in all competitions, but they have remained unbeaten in that time. “One of the merits of this team is it doesn’t just depend on one or two players but of course I think this team is better with Kun”.

Now Liverpool have Mario Balotelli (although on loan to Milan), Kolo Toure, Daniel Sturridge and James Milner make up Liverpools current ex City contingent. I’ve been back training for the past couple of days and I was training when he first arrived.

It has allowed the chasing pack to close in and the concertina effect at the top of the table means that although City enter the weekend as leaders – above Arsenal on goal difference – they could be as low as fourth in the standings by the time the game kicks off.

Four months after quitting Liverpool for Manchester City, Raheem Sterling will have the first opportunity to justify the move by getting one over his former employers when the teams meet at the Etihad Stadium tomorrow.

But he said in a news conference: “Sergio is fit”.

I am not sure if City now have any ex Liverpool players…nope no names coming to mind (other than maybe one very young England International)!

“Sergio Aguero is fit, he is ready to come back”, said Pellegrini.

Going into the game, it’s City who are the big favourites with the bookies.
