Five dead in Washington shooting, including gunman
Mason County Sheriff’s officials confirm five bodies have been found on the property of a standoff near Belfair.
Spurling also clarified how authorities were notified of the shooting.
Police arrived at the home after the suspect himself called a sheriff’s sergeant on the officer’s work cell phone to say that he “did something” and asked that authorities be sent to the residence, Osterhout said.
Pigott said he hadn’t heard from the police and didn’t know how or if his neighbors are involved, but he’s not been able to contact some of them.
The neighbour, Jack Pigott, 79, who lives across the road from the house where the incident occurred, said authorities told him the victims were all from one family and that the suspected gunman was a stepfather. Two sons were adopted from Russian Federation, and a daughter was adopted from China.
Pigott says the husband had a heating and air conditioning contractor business.
A man inside the home called 911 on Friday morning to say he had shot people.
A SWAT team has entered the man’s home and found four people dead.
The gunman shot himself.
The SWAT team went in around 12:30 p.m., Spurling said. She is alive and was taken to the hospital for an evaluation.
The office of Mason County, Wash., Sheriff Casey Salisbury confirmed the deaths. They searched 11 buildings on the property.
Spurling did not have an update on the condition of the man who called 911.
Belfair is west of Seattle, about 68 driving miles away.
