Five Former Bulldogs Named To NFL Pro Bowl
Robinson is tied for the league’s best 13 touchdown catches. His appeal was expected to be heard Wednesday.
The Carolina Panthers have been rewarded for a so far undefeated season with 10 players selected to the Pro Bowl.
Five-time Pro Bowler DARREN WOODSON (Team Irvin) and two-time Pro Bowler ERIC DAVIS (Team Rice) will serve as defensive co-captains. Jets head coach Todd Bowles complimented Butler on Tuesday, calling him one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL.
Added Robinson, “That’s how things play out, but that (making the Pro Bowl) wasn’t my main focus this year”. If the Panthers reach the big game, the 10 players won’t take part in the Pro Bowl. “There are other guys on the team that had good years, too, but that’s kind of the way it always is”. I don’t think that’s why they or myself are involved in that. “I’d like to thank Coach Campbell, Coach Benton and Coach Bicknell, as well as all of the fans who supported me”.
Newton earned his third Pro Bowl selection in a season in which he has established career highs in passing touchdowns (33 – 2 in the NFL) and passer rating (98.9 – 6 in the NFL).
It has been a strong defence of the Super Bowl title by the New England Patriots, who count seven players on the roster, as do the Arizona Cardinals and Seattle Seahawks.
Inside linebacker Derrick Johnson is the top candidate in Kansas City for that conversation. He intercepted Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson in the Patriots end zone with 26 seconds remaining to preserve a 28-24 victory in Super Bowl XLIX.
The Carolina contingent consists of quarterback Cam Newton, running back Jonathan Stewart, fullback Mike Tolbert, tight end Greg Olsen, guard Trai Turner, center Ryan Kalil, defensive tackle Kawann Short, cornerback Josh Norman and linebackers Luke Kuechly and Thomas Davis.
Patriots star Tom Brady was selected for the 11th time, most of any player this year. In addition, safety Tyrann Mathieu was selected, but will miss the game after tearing his ACL in Sunday’s win over Philadelphia. Despite facing frequent double-team blocks this season, particularly with defensive end Robert Quinn missing most of the season with knee and back injuries, Donald also has a team-high 21 tackles for loss. He said that it shows that all of his dedication and hard work really paid off and he is very excited and thanked the fans and others who voted for him.
