Five reasons Alabama will beat Clemson
Some may argue that they’ve been the best team in college football, even with their one loss to Ole Miss. Unfortunately, I don’t think Clemson has it in them to take Alabama the distance. He’s a reporter’s dream for a quote, and he’s arguably the most interesting coach in college football.
The Alabama Crimson Tide is one step closer to another national championship.
Other observers don’t seem to think it will be the thriller I think it will be. Clemson sports the nation’s No. 6 total defense and No. 11 total offense. He will admit only to being one of several leaders on the team, but did confess that the leadership displayed by a few eventually was transferred to all.
Alabama looked like a team with no weaknesses against Michigan State. It was a thoroughly dominant performance in every single possible facet of the game. Clemson going fastball, they are always up to the line ready. That didn’t have a prayer of working. The 50-yard Jacob Coker to Calvin Ridley TD pass? This could be a huge advantage for Saban and Alabama…just as it was a year ago when Ohio State had more practice time before it defeated OR for the national championship.
There’s another storyline to the title game. “This team has done a particularly good job of having the kind of competitive character and want-to you like to see”. Some of these teams weren’t that great on the defensive end. You can also purchase a subscription and have full access to the site. It was a way for both of them to have a sense of normalcy after a tumultuous past.
“If you stop the run, you get rewarded with pass rushing”, said Allen, who had two sacks against the Spartans. “He has a lot of different moves that he uses to get to the quarterback”. You don’t win championships without your best players showing up and getting clocked in and performing. None of it happened. The Sooners were a seven point favorite for the play-in game, but the Tigers took it 37-17, successfully shutting down Baker Mayfield’s dynamic passing attack.
Lawson sustained a sprained MCL in Clemson’s win over Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl.
Alabama has historically played well in the fourth quarter this season. The sophomore threw for 3,699 yards, 31 touchdowns and 12 interceptions with a 68.2 completion percentage, while rushing for 1,032 yards and 12 touchdowns on 187 attempts.
Saban has proven a master of motivation in keeping his returning players hungry while quickly instilling his demands of a winning regimen into the new arrivals each season. I’m not betting against him at this stage.
And there will be many more numerical achievements to share should Alabama defeat Clemson. In this game, it’ll be prepared for Coker’s arm, unlike Michigan State was.
But seriously, nothing would make things more interesting than a Clemson TD to start off the title game. It’s definitely odd calling the #1 team in the nation, 14-0 Tigers “not too bad”, but that’s nearly what you have to call it. Are they undefeated? Yes.
