Flamini wants pay-off to leave Arsenal
The former Milan man wants to stay and see out his contract, though Arsenal are keen on selling him, with Turkish giants Galatasaray and Ligue 1 side Bastia reportedly interested.
Yet, with Flamini still maintaining another year on his contract, the Frenchman turned the offers down in the hopes of getting a payout from Arsenal, as the Metro reports.
But Wenger claims Flamini has no intention of leaving the club and will be part of his first team plans during the season.
The story says that, seeing as how Flamini will not make his 65,000 pounds a week elsewhere, he wants Arsenal to reimburse him for the money that he will not be making for his own ineffectiveness. Plus, Arsenal are in the market to sign another defensive midfielder. “We are starting a new season and I’m focused on that one”, he said in July. Furthermore, Goal understands he has been informed by the club that he can leave this summer.
Flamini has made 50 appearances in the Premier League during his second spell at the club but with Francis Coquelin, Santi Cazorla, Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey and even Mikel Arteta all ahead of him in the midfield pecking order, he has no future at the North London club.
The 31-year-old French midfielder is in the third year of his second stint with the team after previously playing at Emirates Stadium from 2004 to 2008.
