Flash Flood Watch Issued For Tuesday
Heavy rains are likely across parts of the central and eastern Ozarks Monday night through Tuesday, prompting a Flash Flood Watch by the National Weather Service.
Thunderstorms with heavy rain will ccontinue Tuesday morning for a while before moving off to the northeast.
NWS predicts total accumulations of rain will range from near 2 to 4 inches, with heavier amounts possible locally.
According to Sebastian County EMS Director Jeff Turner, the department has received detailed information from both National Weather Service offices about the upcoming weather and has taken precautions.
A wind advisory is also in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday for Avery, Buncombe, Graham, Haywood, northern Jackson, Macon, Madison, Mitchell, Swain and Yancey counties. Winds will increase in intensity with gusts of up to 32 miles per hour. The high will be 61. However, there will be a 20 percent chance of rain on Saturday along a cold front.
Today is expected to be the warmest day of the week with a high near 70 and a low around 57.
