Flash flood watch, wind advisory in effect today
Get your rain jackets and snow boots ready Asheville – there is some potentially hazardous (and varied) weather on the way later today.
Walton and surrounding counties will be under a flash flood watch until Wednesday night as more rain is expected in the area.
The National Weather Service placed the region under a flood advisory until 4 a.m. Thursday and a flood warning until 5 a.m. Thursday. The large circulation associated with the low will transport deep gulf and Atlantic moisture across the western Carolinas and northeast Georgia tonight.
Accuweather.com forecasts heavy rain and thunderstorms, with a risk of flooding, for Wednesday night through Thursday morning in central Pennsylvania.
Winds will blow at 25 to 30 miles per hour, according to the weather service, with gusts up to 40 miles per hour. The watch was issued because 1 to 2 inches of rain could fall this evening into tomorrow and ground conditions are already saturated in some areas. Locally higher amounts are expected, particularly across the Atlanta metro area.
