Flawless postseason ‘doesn’t matter’ to Warriors’ Durant
Golden State went on to win the game by 12 points.
Normally, that matchup would favor Golden State, but Barnes went cold, shooting 35.2 percent from the field. Golden State is the first team to start a postseason at 12-0 and is winning by an average of 16.3 points. Kyrie Irving misses a wild running shot. They claim a lack of parity, as many basketball fans evidently are exhausted of LeBron James and Stephen Curry competing for championship glory.
Last year, Golden State set an National Basketball Association record by winning 73 regular-season games.
Not that anyone expected any different.
On ESPN, Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Kevin Durant (Golden State Warriors) will meet LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love (Cleveland Cavaliers) on both linear pay-TV and the streaming platform, ESPN Play. Now-after dropping last year’s NBA Finals in seven games-the team is even more loaded thanks to the addition of forward Kevin Durant.
“Since I’ve been in this league, it’s hard to get to the playoffs, let alone march all the way to the finals”, guard Iman Shumpert said. “I got to do my part and we all got to make it come together as a group”. Eight prior teams have reached the title round unbeaten, but none had so many games to win to get there. Silver says the league isn’t taking away free agency, so ultimately there’s only so much he can do as a decision-maker to keep star players in their cities. “Plus you’ve got a rubber match in that they will play three Finals in a row and each has won one”, said Dorfman. The main reason for his return was to end Cleveland’s 52-year championship drought and bring his hometown a title.
Beaten previous year by Cleveland’s historic comeback, the Warriors will try to avenge that defeat and get back on top when they face the Cavaliers again, the first time two teams have met three straight times in the NBA Finals.
Yes, Golden State is going to win this series.
So, as many may know the Warriors destroyed most of the National Basketball Association, some to the point where their star players such as Curry, Thompson, Green and Durant didn’t have to play the full game. It wouldn’t have mattered if I shot lights-out if we didn’t finish the job off. His coach that year was Mike Brown, who has served as acting coach for the Warriors while Steve Kerr is out following complications from back surgery. Curry is averaging a team-high 28.6 points per game in the playoffs.
“It feels a little surreal”, Brown said.
The difference: Opponents in the final two rounds of the playoffs opted to put their big man on Barnes while using a more versatile defender on Green.
Cavaliers in 2016 became the first team to rally from a 3-1 NBA Finals deficit and win the title, which was the first in franchise history.
“We’ve had a great season to this point, a great playoff run”. Who knows, maybe the Spurs could have challenged the Warriors this season with Leonard, and if they add Chris Paul this offseason, they’d be even more risky.
Thompson is shooting 38.3 percent overall and 36.4 percent from three-point range, both significant dips from his regular season numbers of 46.8 and 41.4 percent, respectively. “I can’t lie”, Durant said of his latest trip to the finals compared to his first. He has won the MVP three times in his career, including previous year.
Count Warriors’ star Kevin Durant among those who couldn’t care less.
