Flight From New York To Chicago Diverted Due To Passenger
An unhinged passenger attacked a stewardess on a flight from NY to Chicago Thursday night, forcing the pilot to make an emergency landing in Detroit so the woman could be arrested.
He says it started when a young woman began yelling at a flight attendant and possibly ripped off her necklace.
Officials said the victims of the alleged assault are seeking to press charges.
She was carried off the plane and may have been injured during the incident, according to the Chicago-based station.
Flight 3461 was flying to Chicago from New York’s LaGuardia Airport but was forced to land in Romulus about 8 p.m., said Brian Lassaline, a spokesman for Detroit Metro.
FBI spokeswoman Jill Washburn says the woman will likely be transferred to federal custody.
The diverted flight, operated by Shuttle America, reached O’Hare International Airport about an hour and three minutes late, according to the United Airlines website. And Goldgraben really could have done a better job livetweeting this, to be honest.
