Flight returns to Denver after problem during takeoff
A flight from Charlotte, North Carolina, bound for Minneapolis, Minnesota, was forced to return to Charlotte-Douglas global Airport shortly after takeoff on Monday night as a result of an unspecified security threat.
There were no injuries reported according to Phoenix Fire Department and Southwest Airlines.
Southwest Airlines shows the flight was canceled.
Passengers on the American Airlines flight were placed on another flight with a different plane and crew to fly to their destination overnight.
Southwest spokesman Brad Hawkins said he could not immediately identify the nature of the threat. It parked away from the Denver airport’s gates, where the passengers were taken through a shuttle. “Our maintenance teams will have the first look and final say”.
They were made aware of the threat more than an hour before but an FBI spokesperson said it was “non-credible”.
No one has been detained or arrested “at this time”, Sanders said. The authorities received the threat from the aircraft at 5:15pm, after which the aircraft landed safely at 6:36pm.
