Brandon Ross scored on an 80-yard run with 4:40 to play and Maryland salvaged the final game of a trying season with a 46-41 victory on Saturday in what might be Kyle Flood’s final game as the Scarlet Knights’ coach.

The person with knowledge of the situation requested anonymity because university President Robert Barchi hasn’t announced the decision publicly.
“The quicker they move, the quicker they can get going on the process of rebuilding the program, whether it’s hiring the athletic director first – hopefully one with Big Ten experience and solid football credentials – or allowing the new head coach to have input on the athletic director”, Stephen Edelson of the Asbury Park Press wrote on November 29.
The governor called Hobbs “a valued resource for the office during an important time and I thank him for his willingness to serve”.
The team’s seniors received their sendoff at a meeting on Monday morning.
Goerge, who has a third player, sophomore wide receiver Justin Shorter, that the Scarlet Knights were recruiting, said Flood “did everything the right way” and that for that reason Flood “will land on his feet”.
“We say all the time that the game of football is a game of inches”, interim coach Mike Locksley said. Flood is 27-24 in four seasons at Rutgers, including bowl appearances in his first three. Flood is said to be in trouble after a season that included his own three-game suspension and players’ arrests and suspension. “I believe, however, at this point, when major changes are being made in our football program, we need a fresh start”, Barchi said.
This is not the same Rutgers team that ran into a buzz-saw against Virginia past year. He was given a two-year contract extension at the beginning of the 2014 season that runs through the 2018 season and made $1.26 million this year, according to USA Today’s coaches’ salary database.
Rutgers is the fourth Big Ten program to fire both their head football coach and athletic director since last October. Barchi named Patrick Hobbs – Dean Emeritus of the Seton Hall University School of Law – as Hermann’s replacement as permanent athletic director, meaning he’ll be charged with leading the search for Flood’s replacement. Hermann had been paid $450,000 per year. We’re a 4-8 football team.
“Julie came to Rutgers in 2013, at a time when the program was in turmoil, with a vision at where she could take our Athletics Program”, said Barchi.
Entering the 2015 season, most observers thought tonight’s Baylor-TCU game would be for all of the Big 12 marbles. Although she pledged otherwise, Hermann found herself involved in controversy. Hermann and Barchi met Sunday afternoon at Barchi’s home in Piscataway.
After Rowe ripped off an 18-yard run into Rutgers territory, Johnson made his mark on the game once again with a 44-yard touchdown run.
A NY native, Flood first joined Greg Schiano’s Rutgers staff in 2005 as an offensive line coach after three years with Delaware.
Rutgers’ hot shooting only grew in the second half where they shot 60.9 percent from the field (14-of-23) to finish with an overall 55.4 shooting percentage, which marked a new season high.
