Flood Situation: Ten NDRF Teams Rushed to Bihar, UP
PM Narendra Modi communicated his worry over the situation in surge hit territories and assured complete backing from the Center in salvage and relief operations. The force has deployed 56 rescue and relief teams in the affected states, besides two Deputy Inspector General-rank officers in Bihar and UP to oversee the situation.
Praying for the safety and well-being of those affected by floods, the Prime Minister hoped that the situation in the affected areas would normalise at the earliest, a statement said.

Days of heavy rain have caused the Ganges River and its tributaries to rise above the danger level during the past 48 hours in about 20 districts of the states of Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
Bihar had 16 NDRF teams besides 40 state disaster management teams, while UP had 11 NDRF teams. Mr Randeep Kumar Rana, DIG NDRF is present in Varanasi to supervise the ongoing rescue operation. “In addition, the teams have provided medical care to more than 9,100 people in various states”, officials said. A large number of people from low lying areas have been shifted to safer locations and relief camps. In Bihar alone, the relief and rescue teams evacuated around 3,400 people on Sunday.
So far, the NDRF teams have evacuated more than 26,400 people from various flood-prone areas in the country this monsoon season.
