Florida Man Arrested for DUI While in Electric Wheelchair
A Florida man was charged with driving under the influence when he blocked traffic by parking his motorized wheelchair in the middle of a bridge. Police were called to the scene and found Hicks in a motorized wheelchair, intoxicated and obstructing traffic.
Officers also said they could smell alcohol on his breath.
Officers took Hicks into custody after her refused to take a breathalyser test.
Hicks was arrested for what could be his third DUI in a decade, but according to attorney Jason Hicks-no relation-the wheelchair DUI conviction is unlikely.
He also refused treatment for an open wound on his body and was placed behind bars at Brevard County Jail.
According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Hicks was arrested earlier this year on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without the intent to kill.
