Florida mom fights off pair of carjackers
The Miami-area woman stepped away from her vehicle at a Hialeah, Florida, gas station, but rushed back when she saw a masked man with a gun making his way towards her convertible around 10 p.m. on Monday.
She grabbed the man who was getting into the driver’s seat and literally threw him from her auto. The woman than gets into a short scuffle with the man before he “ran away like [a] coward”, according to police.
It was their second alleged carjacking of the night. The female driver immediately locked herself inside the vehicle, so the would-be auto thieves spotted another target.
“The woman and her kids were unharmed”, he said. All three were arrested and three handguns were confiscated.
Before the would-be carjacker could close the door, a woman is seen in the video reaching in and pulling the person out of the auto. Officials say that Utria served as the getaway driver as Rosado and the teen tried carjacking the victims.
Three people are facing several charges after allegedly trying to carjack a mother.
Police say Gonzalez and Rosado have confessed to the attempted carjackings.
Their high-speed getaway caught the attention of a nearby police officer.
“She was a mom, and what that bad guy didn’t know in the back seat of that vehicle were two kids, and she wasn’t going to let them be taken”, said Carl Zogby of Hialeah Police Dept. “So she fought”.
