Florida Panthers vs. NY Rangers – 11/21/15 National Hockey League Pick, Odds, and Prediction
Nash had a hat trick, including the game-winner on the power play in overtime, as the Rangers beat the Florida Panthers 5-4 at BB&T Center on Saturday. Less than two minutes later, Viktor Stalberg scored, seemingly putting the Panthers out of their misery.
The Rangers came back strong after the loss to Tampa and came out ready. At 17:32 and 18:11 of the third, Aleksander Barkov and Jaromir Jagr scored to tie the game. Right winger Reilly Smith also had one.
The Rangers, who were leading the National Hockey League in fewest goals allowed, rebounded after seeing their nine-game winning streak end in Tampa Thursday.
Roberto Luongo finished the game with 26 stops and saw his record drop to 6-7-3. “I just shot it and hoped for the best”.
Nash scored his fourth of the season at 13:22, and the Blueshirts regained the lead. Nash fired the victor past Luongo from the top of the right circle at 2:01, with the helpers going to Derick Brassard and Dan Boyle, to bring an exciting night of action in Sunrise to an unfortunate end. Zuccarello had the lone assist on the goal. “As I struggle to find my numbers, I just try to make a power move, hold on to pucks and really try to simplify. It seems to work out”, Nash said. “That’s the way we should play, and we have good enough players to do it all the time”.
However, the Panthers did earn a point with one of their most unbelievable late-game comebacks when they scored twice within 39 seconds, both times with their net empty.
The Panthers would draw back even 4:35 seconds later with a power-play marker from Jokinen. “We had our chances. It’s a tough game to lose, but we battled through the adversity”, Bjugstad said.
The Panthers tied it again when Jokinen, in front of the crease, tipped in a shot from the right circle by Brandon Pirri with 2:03 left in the second. Smith assisted on the goal. “There was no quit. Of course, we wanted two points, but we’re proud of the way we played”. “We put a lot of pressure on them, put a few shots through”. “We have to play smarter defensively, win puck battles”. In the third period, Zuccarello took a long stretch pass from McDonagh after the defenseman had intercepted a pass on a Florida rush.
NY broke a 2-2 tie in the third when Mats Zuccarello broke free and beat Luongo.
Bjugstad would finally solve Lundqvist 6:46 into the second period after taking a goalmouth pass from Pirri. The Rangers return to NY for games against Nashville and Montreal on Monday and Wednesday….
In ’14-15, Holloway signed in Switzerland and continued to be a productive scorer, with 37 points in 42 games for SC Bern. Panthers D Dmitry Kulikov is out for two to four weeks with a leg injury.
