Florida police seek motive for killing of ‘The Voice’ singer
The 22-year-old was blasted by a gunman minutes after coming off stage at The Plaza Live in Orlando, Florida, in the early hours of Saturday, UK time.
The brother of singer Christina Grimmie who was shot dead as she signed autographs after a concert in Orlando has broken his silence with a touching tribute on social media.
It later added: “With deep regret, we have confirmed Christina Grimmie, @TheRealGrimmie has died from her injuries”.
In a tweet the force said: “OPD was told suspect walked toward Christina and shot her. Christina’s brother immediately tackled the suspect, who shot & killed himself”.
Grimmie’s former “The Voice” coach, Adam Levine, also expressed his sadness over the young singer’s unfortunate passing by posting a throwback photo of him and Grimmie on Instagram.
Marcus Grimmie penned an emotional post, remembering his sister as his partner in life. No one answered the door to the one-story house that had a rusted, metal animal trap in the yard.
Police credit Marcus’ heroic actions for preventing the gunman from hurting others.
Loibl was armed with two handguns, two loaded magazines and a hunting knife, he said.
Late singer Christina Grimmie’s killer has been identified as Kevin James Loibl, 27, from St. Petersburg, Florida.
“He came here to commit this crime and had plans to travel back to where he came from”, Mina added.
Usher, who also coached on the series, added: “To an incredible soul and voice. may your legacy live on forever”. The police chief wouldn’t elaborate further.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reported in 2014 that Grimmie moved to Los Angeles in 2012 after joining Selena Gomez on tour to focus on her singing career.
