Florida State Seminoles vs. Wake Forest Demon Deacons: Betting odds, point
After a bye week, the No. 11 Florida State Seminoles will head on the road to face Wake Forest in a conference battle. He set school records for most attempts, completions, yards, touchdown passes and completion percentage by a true freshman QB for Wake Forest.
For Wake Forest, Saturday’s 31-24 loss against Indiana at BB&T Field can certainly be placed in the “moral victory” column, but a win was within reach for the Deacons. However, 75% of Wolford’s touchdowns were thrown against Elon, whereas he turned in a one-TD, three-pick outing against the Syracuse defense, which is the best Wake has seen this season at No. 52 nationally in total defense and 69th in yards per play. They may be a stunning on games similar to this which seem rough.
“(Wolford) is a mobile guy”, said FSU defensive end DeMarcus Walker, another Jacksonville native who said he grew up with Wolford.
Z – Don’t Go Three and Out The Wake Forest offense has not shown great ability to run down teams that are outscore them. Defensively, Florida State yields 116.3 yards in passing and 140.0 yards in rushing.
“The way you practice is the way you have to play against Florida State“, Herron said. While the numbers in their totality are solid, it has been apparent throughout the first three games that Golson has not always looked in complete control of the offense.
On defense, the Seminoles are facing an improved Wake Forest attack. Wolford threw for more than 300 yards in each of the first two games, while Hinton led the team in rushing in the last two.
With the experience of Ramsey and company in the secondary, I have trouble envisioning a scenario where the Demon Deacons keep it competitive if forced to put the ball in the air.
On defense, they have a host of new, inexperienced players, which could be a factor on Saturday. The leading receivers for the Demon Deacons were Cam Serigne, K.J. Brent, and Chuck Wade who each caught 5 passes for a combined 193 yards. No team in the ACC has allowed more sacks than the Demon Deacons (15), and they gave up six last week to Indiana. Per our David Visser, the we can probably expect to see a starting O-line this week comprised of Rod Johnson, Kareem Are, Hoefeld, Wilson Bell and Derrick Kelly, but the return of Chad Mavety provides a few depth at right tackle.
Clawson says the plays aren’t necessarily different depending on which quarterback is out there – Wolford is more of a pure passer while Hinton can make things happen with his feet.
Luckily, Wake Forest will have a shot at redemption next Saturday when they take on ACC giant Florida State at home. Because of these reasons, I like Florida State in a rout.
