Florida wide receiver Antonio Callaway questionable for UGA game

“It wouldn’t surprise us to see the Bulldogs the favorite once again on game day”.

He saw guys pressing. He thought the Gators looked “out of sorts” on ocassion and did a few uncharacteristic things. I’m looking forward to it and I’m sure the game has got [Georgia] juiced up.

Yet, here they are. Florida manhandled Georgia in the trenches past year. The way it’s supposed to be.

Jim McElwain is getting recognition on the recruiting trail. If they change their scheme and have him follow me, I guess that would mean they’re a little anxious about me.

Florida is 6-1 on the season, 4-1 in the SEC, 5-2 against the spread and 4-3 with the over.

Nick Saban doesn’t have a game to coach this weekend with his team on a bye. Defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt on injured outside linebacker Jordan Jenkins (hip): “Jordan has practiced this week and looked good, so we’ll see how he does Saturday”.

It was a poor showing for a Bulldogs team that is ranked third in the SEC in total defense. That year, Georgia did not complete a single pass yet beat the Gators 14-7.

And that’s assuming the Bulldogs don’t slip up along the way. Jonathan Bullard has 10 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks, while Alex McCalister and Joey Ivie have four and 3.5 sacks, respectively. Greyson Lambert is ranked in the SEC fifth in passer rating. The Florida offense is averaging 31.6 points and 376.3 yards per game with five turnovers. They’ll be much of the focus Saturday. The patchwork offensive line has done a decent job of pass protection but the running game has been mostly atrocious. “We take it as another game and try not to get ahead of ourselves”.

“When you think about it, going into the eighth game of the year and we’re still right in the heart of it, that’s a good thing”. That’s on me, because we’ve got to be able to finish. Regardless of where he’s played, he’s been the Gators’ cool hand in hot games. Three players were scheduled for a second audition Monday to give depth behind K Austin Hardin, who has been hampered a leg injury. Hardin came on when Jorge Powell suffered a season-ending knee injury on a kickoff at LSU and was true on three point-after attempts, but the UF staff staged an open tryout for placekickers during the open date and narrowed a group of 216 candidates to three. In the same way Florida shocked people last year – and I don’t think Georgia winning this one would be almost as big a shock as Florida winning it last year – but I expect Georgia to come out and play really well.

For McElwain, Doug Nussmeier, Geoff Collins and the rest of the Florida staff, the week off meant taking the mistakes – both physical and mental – from October 17 in Baton Rouge and turning them into those teaching moments the head coach referenced that will apply in this home stretch. Both teams will come out with a lot of energy, because they want to have better performances than the last time they were out on the field. And, oh, does McElwain talk about the details. But at the same time, we certainly didn’t start this journey to not be in this position…. Florida plays its outside corners on all sides of the sector & keep them there.

The standout sophomore became the fastest player in school history to reach 2,000 career rushing yards, accomplishing that feat in his 20th game. “If you’re not prepared and you’re scared, then this probably isn’t the place for you because this is the expectation of the University of Florida”.
