Florida woman arrested after live-streaming behind the wheel, ‘I’m so
While Beall probably prefers to be seen on Periscope instead of in her mugshot, police said seeing a drunk driver through their eyes should be a reminder, don’t do it. She later said, “I’m going right when I want to go left”. She also provided commentary: “Hi, guys…I’m driving home drunk”.
As soon as Beall started broadcasting on Periscope, the Lakeland police started receiving 911 calls from people who were watching.
With the app allowing users to stream any video live to the world, Beall chose to title her Periscope stream “Drunk girl driving”.
In a more serious case, two California men were arrested in August after authorities say they live-streamed their armed search for a romantic rival.
Her comments say it all, but the video is more telling of what happened on Saturday night in Polk County.
Since Lakeland Police don’t have Periscope as an authorized software app, they couldn’t monitor Beall’s actions but one officer downloaded it on his own personal account. Beall’s attorney tells News Channel 8 she will plead not guilty when she heads to court on November 9. In the video, a glossy-eyed-Whitney Beall said that she thinks she’s blown a tire and that she’s driving very slowly.
“You’ll get there faster if you stop and get out and walk”, said another.
Lakeland police said in a Facebook post that they struggled to obtain an exact location at first but then using surrounding landmarks in the video they were able to locate Beall.
She refused to be breathalysed, and was charged with driving under the influence.
According to WFLA-TV, on Monday Beall said she made a “big mistake” and has learned her lesson.
No one was injured in the incident.
