Floyd Mayweather Sr. rips Manny Pacquiao, calls him a ‘liar’

Anemic ticket and pay-per-view sales for the Mayweather-Berto fight on September 12 may have goaded Mayweather Sr to continue his attack against Pacquiao for the needed publicity. Reports claim that the boxing champ should not take Berto lightly as he could pull off a surprise for Mayweather. “Once again, there will never be a fighter on my level – because you have to be able to go where I go, mentally”, the 38-year-old fighter said. After Michael Woods of the Sweet Science reported Money’s fight against Berto for the welterweight championship of the world on July 15 (h/t SI.com), Mayweather ran into criticism for his decision.

If Mayweather is deliberate and methodical in the ring, he’s even more measured and at times playfully hard in dealing with the media.

“I know that I’m still the same guy who people thought could have given Floyd problems a couple years ago”. But Berto still does have a lot of punching power and good hand speed. He is the pound-for-pound king and some believe Berto, who has lost three of his last six fights, is ill-fit to challenge that throne. So does he want to dethrone Floyd Mayweather? Californian-born Berto suffered defeats to Victor Ortiz, Robert Guerrero – two men Mayweather has already defeated – and Jesus Soto Karass.

He can though console himself with the thought that the full weight of expectation is on Mayweather, who has fought his whole professional career to preserve is a precious unbeaten record.
